Specialist Cost Auditors get the Queens stamp of approval in cost reduction exercise

QUEENS-HOTEL
THE chief executive of a leading hotel group has saved £150,000 on his running costs having engaged with Specialist Cost Auditors in a bid to spend money as efficiently as possible.

Mike Sheffield, owner of Best Western Queen’s Hotel in Perth, Scotland, said he engaged with Specialist Cost Auditors (SCA) because he knew there was potential to make savings.

Mr Sheffield, who owns three hotels known as The Symphony Group, said it was essential for him and all business owners to reduce running costs as much as possible and having engaged with Specialist Cost Auditors’ directors, John McGowan and Graham Calley, he’s glad he did.

He said: “When Specialist Cost Auditors first approached me through a mutual friend to review our costs I was quite sceptical about how effective their input would be for us.

“We have a vigorous policy in place when it comes to our business expenditure so it was with reluctance that I engaged with Specialist Cost Auditors. A review was carried out by the SCA team and recommendations were put in front of us. We took our time and looked over everything in fine detail and the savings were there in black and white – £150,000.

“This was a real learning curve for us. Companies can be guarded when it comes to letting an external organisation come in and review your business. I was certainly guarded but, because of the recommendation I had received, I decided to go ahead and engage with John and his team. It was a value for money service and I am delighted with the outcome.”

John McGowan, Business Development Director, said: “It was a pleasure to engage with Queens Hotel. We work with a wide range of businesses in a variety of sectors and all sensible business owners want to reduce their outgoings.

“We examined a wide range of business categories for the Queens Hotel from credit card expenditure, bank fees, food, electricity but the lion’s share of saving were in payroll costs.”

“We encourage people to take action and save money. It is not only about cost reduction – it’s about improving efficiencies and maintaining quality and service levels as well.

“All you have to do is contact us and we will generate savings for you.”
